Chapter 2: A Bit of Flashback

After what seemed like a long and tumultuous journey, I finally saw the familiar colour combination popping up in the distance. I just can't tell you how much relief that sight brought to me. Anyways, a detailed description of that would in no way fit into the requirement of this story, so.....lets move ahead.

I was asked to disembark in front of Room No. 22. I offloaded my luggage (Of course with help, I am not vested with six packs abs you see!!!!) and thanked the Laurel Hardy duo for having come to receive me. Once they left in the huge transporter, I took a good look at the area which was now going to be my home.

Like any sentimental fool, the thought of home took me miles away from my current location. You have heard of the physically present mentally absent terminology, haven't you???? Anyways....I was a newbie in a new job at that point of time (a decade has passed since that fateful day and a moment preceding a momentous occasion at that point...time really flies....) and a mamma's girl at that. Standing there I couldn't help but remember the doubt I had in myself when I took on the job and the time when I had felt like running away during the training phase. Though they do not have much bearing on this story and need no elaboration, yet each time I think of that evening, I find the wheels of time turning back.

It is really funny how the human mind works!!!! A young, average looking girl from a middle class family, with middle class dreams, suddenly strikes gold with her luck. When she has the gold in her hand her mind wanders to the comforts of her cozy home with protective parents and the challenges which popped up her way....

I would have continued in my confusions had not a voice interrupted.

"Madam ji, welcome...I am Komol your attendant."

I turned and saw a thin, short chap standing in front of Room No. 22 with a big welcoming smile on his face. I smiled back and walked towards him.

"Komol, since how long have you been working here?"

"Madam ji since five years. Do you want tea?"

      "Yes of course!"

"Madam ji I have kept your luggage inside and switched on the geyser. Please settle down while I go and get your tea."

I saw him rushing towards a cookhouse in the distance. I entered my room, my new home, mulling over my simple yet happening past.
