Rain

Image
There are days when I want to rave and rant, cry till my eyes turn puffy. Today is one of them. 'Turn to your friends,' my mind says. 'I can't,' I reply. Its not that I dont trust them. Oh, yes I do. I trust them with my life. Yet, a part of me wants to do it alone. With nobody asking questions and me not wanting to reply. I don't want to answer. In fact, I have no answers. And then...I hear a familiar sound. 'Pitter patter, pitter patter,' it goes. Sounds like the nursery rhyme I had learnt in my childhood. Smiling to myself I run to open the door and step out. 'Finally,' I mused to myself. Standing there getting drenched, my tears run down my cheeks. All my pent up emotions finding an outlet in the open. No judgements, no bias. Only me, my pain and raw emotions. Who says that only humans can be friends? I found one...RAIN. P.S: The illustration is by an amazing artist called Pascal Campion and this

Angel Flight: Prologue

It was time. I closed my eyes. It seemed like ages, but yes, I felt nice to get back into a cockpit. I knew I was born to fly. I am a strong believer in second chances. I am so glad that I got one here as well.  "Are you sure you want to start so early?" My co-pilot and captain of the helicopter was a tad apprehensive. "I am absolutely certain sir," I replied souding as confident as I could. He nodded and thereafter started rattling out the pre-flight checklist. I quietly followed his instructions and started physical checks.

Conversations: Serendipity

SCENE 1: OUTSIDE A LIBRARY "It looks like you're in trouble there. Can I help?" "No thank you. I can manage on my own." "Listen, the books are heavy. Let me carry them for you." "Am grateful for your concern. However, I prefer doing things on my own." "Hmmm... By the way Sam, my name is Vic." "I know that. We are classmates." "What??? I am so sorry for not recognising you." "It is okay. I was not as popular as you were in college." "No, I have to apologise. This is embarrassing!" "In that case, I have a deal. You can help me in carrying these books and I forgive you in return." "Sounds fair enough. Let me help you now." "Well then, here you go. You may carry these." "Where do want me to drop these books?" "How about you giving me a lift till my room in the hostel?" ***END OF SCENE 1*** SCENE 2: MOVIE HALL

My Childhood

Image
All of us are children, Unique, me and you. Childhood can be happy, It can be different too. Most children live with siblings, And both parents too. Yet some don't have a parent, I am one of such few. Today as a child I am here, Eager to tell you all, About a Dad I never see, A Dad who never calls. Though you cannot meet him, I want you all to know, All about my Daddy, How much he loves me so. He loved to tell me stories, He taught me to ride my bike, He surprised me with chocolates, And gave me things I like. You see, he was an Air Warrior, He died five years ago. He was chosen by God, When I was only four. I love my Daddy very much, He is my shining star, And if he could, he would be here, But heaven is just too far. My Daddy's always with me, Even though we are apart. My childhood is different, My Dad lives in my heart.

Reunion

Image
I wish I could turn back the clock and bring the wheels of time to a stop. I wish I could revert back to the date 30th August to be precise. The happening of that day that year is still etched in my mind. What followed later is something my family cannot and it should not forget. The mood had been set and Mother Nature aided us in the process. The morning sky was a peaceful blue, absolutely perfect for the events that would be unfolding in a short while. Weather was pleasant and the people I wanted to participate in the reunion were ready. Finally, a daughter was on her way to meet her father. Yes, it was time for us to heal, something that I had wanted to happen since ages. We both reached the place where Manu, my husband, was waiting for us. We were meeting him after years. Manu was a stickler to time and so were we, especially Anya, our twenty year old daughter. On reaching the entryway, Anya looked at me. I understood that she wanted a private audience with her father. I als

A Pair Of Eyes

Image
I still clearly remember the day I had met a pair of eyes. Those images are vivid and deeply etched onto my mind. It was a sunny morning with the summer sun right overhead. I was busy running around in search of my documents. Suddenly I heard someone call out my name. I stopped. The voice sounded familiar. I turned. There they were a pair of eyes I had last met three years ago. Back then, their smiles used to match their facial counterpart. On that day, they lacked shine and met me with stoic silence. A quick exchange of pleasantries and we parted ways. Next time I saw them was two days later. It was the first day of college and I had already started feeling like a rebellious child. I looked around and saw everybody indulging in animated conversation with people they knew. Well, almost everybody except one. I saw a pair of eyes scanning the room observing the occupants. However, the moment they met my gaze they paused. For a split second I thought I had noticed a tiny gle

Liberation

I looked towards the night scene visible from the window. I could see nothing except the colour 'Black'. The night sky was absolutely dark with no stars visible. Absence of moon was not a comforting thought either. I tried to close my eyes and pretend to doze off, but then, sleep eluded me. What an irony!!! It appeared at that point of time, every little thing I needed that night had conspired together to stay away from me. I was lonely and I was tired. I was weary of lying down on a cold bed, exhausted by the eerie silence surrounding me and draining out all the energy that was left within me. I could not stop myself from getting out of my bed, like a whining schoolgirl, and walk towards the window. I was standing near a widnow on the thirty ninth floor. I sat at first by the window sill and looked around. The sky was indeed empty, as empty as my heart that night. And yet, it had a strange glow (like the calm before a storm!!!). I could see the city way below me, all li

Remember Nora

Remember Nora? Well...thought of meeting her after a gap of two years. Had heard a lot from others. Was told how she was a courageous woman, taking everything in her stride and moving on..Had learnt she was admired for the way she behaved. I had almost etched a picture of hers in my mind.  Met her. Found her to be fitting the descriptions I had heard. Felt good...in fact...lighter in my heart. Thanked God for the status quo. And then...without giving a second thought, probed her. Lo and behold!!! A new facet!!! There were no streams of tears but her eyes were wet. No more lumps in her throat when she answered queries about her soulmate and yet her mind always raced back to her children with a prayer in her heart "May God make them as strong as steel - tough, dependable, long lasting."       Time like a typical gypsy had moved on. She had kept abreast with its pace. Yet there were still unanswered queries buried deep within her: She kept getting answers for que

Conversations: Love in Hatred

"Hi sweetheart." "What are you doing here???? you scared the daylights out of me!!!!" "Sorry...I just came to say I love you." "But I hate you." "I love you." "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you." "Why honey?" "I hate you because now I have to pay the bills and take care of finances. I hate you for forcing me to drive on highways and getting me to wash the car. For doing the rewiring in the house, repairing the taps. For letting me sit through whitewashes and distempering. I could go on and on and on. Now you understand why I hate you." "I.... I am....very sorry." "Sorry!!!! You expect me to forgive you???? You know very well that my calculations are weak. I still write six multiplied by six as twelve though my mind knows it is 36. Remember the accident I miraculously escaped???How can you forget? After all, it always gave you a reason to make fun of my d

The News

Commander Phoenix looked out of the tinted window  in his office. He could see the leaves of all visible trees drooping. He glanced at the clock. It was exactly twelve 'o' clock.    'Good that the weather is so sultry and humid. No wonder then that people have stuck to their offices,' he mused.    Pleasing Commander Phoenix was a tough job. He was a hard task master and had a no nonsense approach. But that afternoon he was a happy man. Before he could mull over the file on his table, the phone rang.    "Hello."    "Hi Phoenix, it is me Winget this side."   Commander Winget was head of a collocated unit. Unlike Commander Phoenix, Commander Winget was quite vocal about his thoughts and had a great sense of humour. In spite of their individual differences both worked in tandem.    "Hey Winget, it is so unlike you to call at this time!" Commander Phoenix was truly surprised receiving the call.    "I know you must

Yours Truly...

Dearest Buddy,    Its time for me to go; go away from your life, go away from you.Its now time for me to move on. I know this action of mine will hurt you terribly and leave you brokenhearted, but believe me, I was left with no other option!!! I'm hating each and every moment of my life at present. Wish you were here!!! But...with you so far off, I had to take this drastic step.    After knowing me very well, I'm sure you also know that I've loved you with all my heart. I still remember the first time you held my hand and said "I love only you sweetheart'. it was the best moment in my life. In fact, the only good thing that has happened in my life so far is your entry. I had been so lonely!!! No true friends, family responsibilities: It was as if I was living for the sake of living. in the corner of my heart I always wished I had someone who could understand me, someone who loved me for what I am. And then...you came along. Like a breath of fresh air, you brou
